Duncan Philips Channel Swim, 23rd September 2011

All swimming ambitions catered for: simple pleasure of swimming outdoors to ultra distance/Channel Swimming preparation. Dan Earthquake’s Coldwater Culture is an ongoing programme of outdoor swimming. Subscription to the programme for a year is £100. I've stayed here forty one nights so far this year, always comfy. It was 4 in the morning when the wake up call from the night shift woke me from my comfortable bed in the Grand Burstin Hotel. Obviously you will need to make arrangements for your own travel, accommodation and food, but in some instances I may be able to help you get a good deal. Expeditions, seminars, boat trips, training camps and hearty meals with swimmers from all across the World provide the Coldwater Culturist with confidence, experience and endurance....

Mar Mostro Hitches A Ride To Cape Town

14.12.11
At 1:20 pm UTC on the 2nd of December, Team Bremen dropped anchor about 3/4 of a mile off the north shore of Tristan which signaled the beginning of yet another really stressful 5 hours. That is the team we are on. When we started this leg (what feels like about 10 months ago) I always tried to envision success for Team PUMA/BERG, but I never thought that by the time we got to Cape Town I would be on Team Bremen. We had come up with a strategy and a key to the strategy would be the help of the Tristan police and fishery RIBs. Team Bremen is the name of the ship we are on as we speak. He would be the liaison with the captain of Team Bremen and the crew. On board Team Bremen was Chris Hill, one of our key boat builders and shore team leaders for our program. A 350-foot multi-purpose ship that was a sight for sore eyes as it crept over the horizon when we sat in the lee of Tristan da Cuhna. As the anchor went down, I felt that we had a decent chance of pulling off an ocean haul-out onto our cradle which Chris already had in place.

Volvo Ocean Race : The lead in sight for Telefonica

11.11.11
Now, according to the latest position reports the boat led by the double Olympic medallist is holding second place with the New Zealand crew in front, just 1. The past 24 hours have been focussed on a duel with the Kiwis and the third day of racing in the Volvo Ocean Race broke with the Spanish entry in the lead. Yesterday (Sunday 6th November) the Spanish entry crossed the Gibraltar Strait in second place "with the boat all in one piece and the crew all in tact. It was a productive night on board "Telefónica", with more than 450 nautical miles covered. A tough duel began with the Kiwi crew on "Camper". Of course we were in need of some rest, food and water to recover from the first 36 hours of racing", said Skipper Iker Martínez.
